The ubiquitous word puzzle game Wordle was the inspiration for Nerdle. Following the worldwide success of Josh Wardle's Wordle in 2021, a group of like-minded individuals (identified on the website as Richard and Imogen Mann, Marcus, Gavin, and Alex) decided to create a math puzzle game. Nerdle, which debuted in 2022, catered to puzzle enthusiasts who felt neglected by Wordle's focus.
Daily, you, like Wordle, attempt to identify the correct "term." In this game, however, the term alludes to an equation that must be correct mathematically. Each tile may feature either a number or a mathematical symbol. Green tiles indicate that the correct number or symbol has been inserted in the correct location. A purple tile indicates that the correct number or symbol has been acquired, but it must be set elsewhere in the sequence.
