Chesstacle

Chesstacle is a puzzle game that presents players with an initial position on a chessboard and challenges them to discover the optimal sequence of moves that leads to a winning position. Wordle, a renowned online word-guessing game, served as inspiration for this game.

To play Chesstacle, you must predict a sequence of moves consisting of the best opening move, the best response from your opponent, and your winning move. The moves are entered using algebraic notation, which is a standard method of representing chess moves using letters and numbers to represent the positions of pieces on the board. For instance, "Nf3" means to move the knight to square f3, while "d4" means to move the pawn to square d4.

How to play the Chesstacle game?

  • In order to win in Chesstacle, you have to guess a sequence of moves that includes the best first move, the best reaction from your opponent, and the move that will win the game for you.
  • Algebraic notation is the usual method of notating chess movements. It is a manner of indicating chess moves that uses letters and numbers to denote the positions of pieces on the board. movements are entered into the computer using this notation. For instance, "Nf3" tells the computer to move the knight to the square f3, while "d4" tells it to move the pawn to the square d4.
  • Following each guess, the game gives players feedback by varying the hue of the tiles that are displayed on the board. Tiles that are green show that a piece is in the appropriate square, yellow tiles show that the piece is on the correct rank or file but in the incorrect square, and red tiles show that the piece is not on the appropriate rank or file.
  • The symbol "X" is used to indicate a capture, and the symbol "=" followed by the piece to which the pawn is promoted is used to indicate a promotion of the pawn. Pawn promotions can only occur when a piece is captured. For instance, "a8=Q" indicates that you should transform the pawn on square a8 into a queen on square a8.
